Launched in 2006, the 2nd BK Project is implemented under NRF(National Research Foundation of KOREA) (formerly, KRF BNC) as part of the Government¡¯s efforts to nurture outstanding graduate students. Under this project, which is In its 5th year in 2010, universities nationwide are selected for their excellence in IT, and humanities and social science, and receive funds from the Government each year based on the scope and performance.
Having been selected for the BK Project, the Department of Computer Science at KAIST organized a project group named Real-World Scale Computing : BK21 Program in which 41 outstanding professors, some 300 graduate students and 18 post-doc researchers and research professors are now participating under the leadership of the Department Head and the Chairman of the project group. The group has been showing outstanding performance year after year.
